America’s most beloved family have been involved in a fatal plane crash on route to a concert.

The last remaining member of a famous gospel family, Autumn Nelon Streetman, released an emotional statement following the tragic deaths of her family and friends.

A devastating plane crash claimed the lives of seven people, including several members of the beloved gospel group, The Nelons. The crash killed Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, their daughter Amber, and their son-in-law, Nathan Kistler. Melanie Hodges, a close friend who worked with the family, as well as Larry Haynie, the pilot, and his wife Melissa, were also tragically killed in the crash. The only member of the Nelons not on board at the time was Autumn Nelon Streetman.

The group was traveling to Alaska to participate in the Gaither Homecoming Cruise when their plane crashed in Wyoming. According to witnesses, the aircraft plunged to the ground in flames, sparking a wildfire that drew the immediate attention of firefighters and emergency responders. Sadly, no one survived the crash, as confirmed by the Wyoming sheriff’s office.

In the wake of the tragedy, Autumn Nelon Streetman shared her grief in a heartfelt statement. “As many of you have now heard, my parents, Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, my sister Amber, brother-in-law Nathan, and our dear friends Melanie Hodges, Larry, and Melissa Haynie were involved in a horrific plane crash on Friday,” she said. Autumn expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support, adding, “For the prayers that have already been said for me, my husband Jamie, our soon-to-be-born son, and Jason’s parents, Dan and Linda Clark, I thank you. Your prayers, love, and support will help us get through the next few days.”

A poignant video recorded just before the flight shows Jason smiling and talking with his family and the pilot on a Nebraska runway. The footage, now a heartbreaking memory, was captured moments before the group boarded the ill-fated plane. The aircraft was identified as a Pilatus PC-12/47E, which was owned by Haynie Enterprises. The National Transportation Safety Board has since launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

The Nelons were a prominent and deeply respected family within the gospel music community. In 2016, the family was inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame, a testament to their significant contributions to the genre. Known for their heartfelt performances and enduring legacy, The Nelons hold a special place in gospel history. Over the years, they have been celebrated for hit songs such as “I Shall Not Be Moved,” “Come Morning,” and “We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown,” which have touched the hearts of countless fans. Their music has transcended generations, solidifying their status as one of the most influential families in American gospel music.

The group’s accomplishments extend beyond their musical legacy, as they were also nominated for three Grammy Awards during their career. Despite their success, The Nelons remained a tight-knit family whose faith and love resonated in their music.

Autumn Nelon Streetman’s statement reflects the pain and loss she feels in the wake of this unspeakable tragedy. While the grief is overwhelming, the support from fans and the gospel music community is helping her and her family through these dark times. The Nelons’ legacy of faith, family, and music will continue to live on, even in the face of this heart-wrenching loss. The gospel world mourns the loss of these beloved figures, but their music and impact will not be forgotten.
